TECH TALK #01: LEAP

Oh goodie this going to be the first post of my serie of TECH TALK! In this serie of posts I'll be discussing the things that I find so exciting and innovating on technological level. I'm still a novice at this so please bare with me when it's a bit stiff when it comes to my writing. Practice makes perfect no?

So today I'll be talking about The Leap. It's a USB device which is smaller than the average sized smartphone. The Leap makes possible to interact with your computer in midair by just using gestures. It creates a  3D interaction area where all your movements are registered by the Leap. It can even tell how many fingers  or objects you are using in that area and all the movements at the same time. And what I find amazing is that it only uses about 2% of your CPU to calculate everything! The creators of this device say that it's about 200 times more accurate than most gesture control technology. Which means it has an accuracy of about 0,01 millimeters! Okay now that you have an idea about what it is, how about a little demonstration?

The Leap works on Windows Vista/7/8 and Mac OS X, with Linux being on the agenda.   In this video, we are running Windows 7. The display is an Apple Cinema display.

The Leap is currently only available to pre-order at their website for only $70, which is pretty cheap compare to the price of a Kinect. I'm probably going to pre-order it with some other people so that the shipping expenses will be a bit cheaper. I can't wait to get mine and test it out! And when I do, I'll probably post it on here how I experience the Leap. Have a nice day!

Gold In The Air Of Summer

Hey there! I want to share with you guys a mix tape that I've been listening to for ages. What I mean with ages is probably more then 3 years from now (2009) around this periode of time. It was mixed by Shinichi Osawa, a Tokyo based dj and producer.  I just love the dreamy and feel good vibes that it gives off, from the begin till the end. I find it just wonderful how different genres of music can work in a harmonious way. That's why I'm also a hug fan of LeFto (don't worry he'll be discussed in another post ;) ) Looking past genres makes it more interesting that just categorize music for that what it possible is. Sure it's an indication but you don't have to label everything like that. You'll just end up being a "labelfreak" if you ask me. Sometimes you have those people who refuse to listen to something different. If you have that mentally, you won't experience more than what you're used to. Isn't that a bit boring?  There are so many flavours to choose out, why just stick with one? Anyways enjoy this mix tape and until next time!

Hello World!

Greetings people of the internet! At last I have started with a blog! My friends have been nagging for a while that I should begin with one so yeah, now I did! I love to share my interests with my friends and now I'm sharing it with you guys too! (How great is that huh?) So you ask yourself, what does this novice blogger find interesting? Well I'm pretty much interested in almost everything when it comes to technology and the arts (movies, music, contemporary art...). I'm a full supporter when it comes to creative and innovative projects and love to be part of it. This blog is not only going to be about these two main elements, but also about the events that I encounter in the offline world that matter. Hopefully you'll find my blogposts interesting and hopefully it'll help you discover new things. Have a great night!
